Operation Downtown employs ambassadors who provide cleaning, safety, and hospitality services. Their work includes the following:


  • Control litter daily
  • Empty trash receptacles daily
  • Pressure wash sidewalks
  • Control and remove weeds
  • Remove graffiti from public fixtures and building facade


  • Provide surveillance and communicate with police to assist in the intervention and prevention of crime
  • Distribute crime advisories and provide crime prevention advice
  • Reduce panhandling
  • Connect people to social services
  • Patrol surface lots and parking ramps
  • Reduce public intoxication and consumption of alcohol
  • Escort employees and visitors on request
  • Employ security to address special safety concerns


  • Welcome and assist the public
  • Provide a reassuring presence to visitors
  • Furnish information on retail services and attractions
  • Give directions
  • Respond to other requests for assistance
  • Provide a friendly, customer-service presence
  • Provide roadside assistance to downtown motorists


Hours of Operation

7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday
10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday
6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sundays
Hours are adjusted as needed to support large events/conventions/holidays, etc.
